1)"Avery, you are like a pig who can't stop eating!" It is a simile because there is the word like in it.
2) I think that the two rings that Avery gave Penelope for their engagement signified the changes that can be made, like for example them moving to California.
3)"Bette, your life is back on the train tracks." I think that this could be a metaphor.
