Wow! What a book. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it does. I am now finished with the book, but for the rest of the posts, I will break up the plot into sections. Here is part 1 of the 4 (?) part plot summary.
At the beginning of the book, Bette is a normal girl who just wants to live life and kind of fly under the radar in New York City. She was never one to act crazy or get drunk or even go out for that matter. She loved staying at home with her dog, Millington, or going to dinner with her best friend, Penelope. When they would go out, they would complain about work and talk about Penelope's "amazing" fiance, Avery. Bette soon realized that her life was miserable and going nowhere and that she needed to take action. On impulse, after an especially hard day, Bette quits. She doesn't know what she will do next, but she says that she is the happiest she's been since college graduation. Three months pass and her two amazing uncles pull some strings for her. They offer her a job at a top PR firm in NYC. She accepts, not knowing what she is getting herself into. She starts the next day and is instantly immersed in a whole new culture. The once overweight and self-proclaimed "ugly" girl is now considered slim, trim and gorgeous. Stay tuned, there is more to come!
